On February 25, 2025, the Center for International Law Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) hosted a seminar titled “Indications under International Law of the Rules-Based International Order and Korea’s Response.” The event was held in the second-floor seminar room of the IFANS building in collaboration with the Seoul International Law Academy (SILA).
The seminar aimed to explore the indications of international law and international politics within the rules-based international order, focusing on key areas such as climate change, maritime issues, emerging security challenges, and economic security. Also, the discussion, in light of the changing international landscape since the publication of the 2024 International Policy Study, examined the differing perceptions of the U.S. and China regarding international order and South Korea’s potential response measures.

The event began with an opening speech by SILA President CHUNG Suh-Yong, followed by welcoming remarks from NAM Seunghyun, head of the Center for International Law. Presentations were then delivered by Professor SHIM Sangmin from KAIST and former Ambassador RHEE Yongil. Additionally, several working-level officials and experts affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) engaged in further discussions on the seminar’s theme.
