2023 KNDA-VASS Bilateral Strategic Dialogue Upload Date 2023-07-05 Hits 404
On July 5, 2023, Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies held an annual bilateral strategic dialogue with the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) on the topic of “Contemporary Dynamics of Indo-Pacific Geopolitics and Vietnam-ROK Cooperation.”
 
 

KNDA Chancellor PARK Cheol Hee received a courtesy call by Vice President Dang Xuan Thanh of VASS, and Chancellor Park and Vice President Dang shared their positive assessments of the recent elevation of Korea-Vietnam relations into a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP)” and agreed on the importance of giving concrete shape to the action plan for the implementation of the CSP through high-level interactions and discussions.
 
 

In Session 1, held under the theme of “Indo-Pacific Geopolitics and Implications for Vietnam-ROK Relations,” participants shared their viewpoints about the latest dynamics unfolding in the Indo-Pacific geopolitics including the evolving rivalry between the U.S. and China, and discussed ways to enhance diplomatic and security cooperation between Korea and Vietnam. The theme of the second session was “Directions for Vietnam-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” and participants explored common agendas between Korea and Vietnam across the economic, foreign policy, technology, and security domains to gather insights on ways to turn the “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” into a detailed arrangement covering multiple areas.
