On March 20, 2025, a seminar themed “Trump 2.0 and Outlook for Political Landscape in Southeast Asia: Challenges Lie Ahead for Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship” was hosted by the Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), in collaboration with the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies (KASEAS).
The event gathered experts from inside and outside the institute as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The seminar began by analyzing the challenges that Southeast Asian countries are facing in the Trump 2.0 era, followed by a discussion on the potential impacts on ASEAN Member States. The attendees also examined the outlook for how Malaysia, as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, will respond to the relevant changes.
