Roundtable on the Middle East’s Political Landscape

On December 16, 2021, the Department of African and Middle Eastern Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy invited outsides experts to hold a roundtable.
Participants shared their perspectives on the dynamics in the Gulf region; the impact of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on the political landscape in the Middle East and its implications; and domestic and external factors affecting the resumption of negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal.
Outside participants included: Professor KIM Kangsuk of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; Professor KIM Soo wan of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; Second Secretary KO Young roh of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Second Secretary KIM Min Seob of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy; Dr. KIM Byung Ho of Samsung Economic Research Institute; Yonhap News Agency Director Kang Hoon-sang and many other experts.
From the MOFA, Deputy Director-General KIM Eunjeong of the African and Middle Eastern Affairs Bureau; Second Secretary LEE Sehyuk and Third Secretary KIM Seong Hoon of the Middle East Division Ⅱ were present. From the IFANS side, Director-General IN Namsik, Professor KIM Dong Suk; Researcher LEE Jieun and HAN Mihee participated.
