On May 24, 2022, the Center for Foreign Policy Strategy of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) had a meeting with Executive Director Simon Draper of the Asia New Zealand Foundation.
The Asia New Zealand Foundation is an Asia affiliated think tank based in New Zealand, which is a quasi-governmental organization that leads cooperation with Asian countries in various fields such as culture, education, politics, and diplomacy.
At the meeting, participants shared perspectives on anticipated changes in inter-Korean relations and South Korea’s foreign policy strategies under the new Yoon Suk-yeol administration, the internal and external changes North Korea would face with its Covid-19 confirmed cases rapidly increasing, mutually beneficial relations between Korea and New Zealand, and the Korean peninsula issues. The participants also pinned hopes on more frequent exchanges between the IFANS and New Zealand Foundation in the days ahead.
The list of participants includes: Professor JUN Bong-geun, Head of the Center for Foreign Policy Strategy (IFANS/KNDA); Executive Director Simon Draper of the Asia New Zealand Foundation; Senior Adviser James To of the Asia New Zealand Foundation; H.E. Philip Turner, Ambassador of New Zealand to the Republic of Korea; Second Secretary Jim Guo of the Embassy of New Zealand in the Republic of Korea; and Researcher LEE Gwang-hee.
