International Law IFANS Holds Roundtable Meeting ahead of the 2022 World Emerging Security Forum Upload Date 2022-05-26 Hits 666
On May 26, 2022, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), together with the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS) and Korean Association of World Politics of Information (KAWPI), held a roundtable meeting on the topic of “Present and Future of Emerging Security Threats: Cyberspace Threats Emanating from Emerging Technologies” at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul.
 

 
The meeting was arranged to bring together stakeholders from the government, international organizations, private sector, academia, and civil society to enrich discussions ahead of the upcoming 2022 World Emerging Security Forum, which will held in Seoul on June 21-22, 2022.
 

Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HAM Sang Wook delivered his opening remarks, and President SHIN Yoan of KICS and Vice President KIM Sang bae of KAWPI gave their congratulatory remarks. The theme of the first sessions was “War in Ukraine and Its Implications for Cyber security,” and Professor SONG Tae Eun of the Department of National Unifications Studies of the IFANS participated in the discussion.
 

In Session 2 held under the theme of “Security Implications of Emerging Technologies and the Future of Global Governance,” Professor NAM Seung Hyun of Center for International Law of the IFANS participated to share her thoughts.

The list of participants included: Professor KIM Ki-Hyung at Ajou University; KAWPI Vice President KIM Sang bae; Dr. KIM So Jeong, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for National Security Strategy; Professor SON Han Byeol at Korea National Defense University; KICS President SHIN Yoan; Dr. YOON Jung Hyun, Research Fellow at Institute for National Security Strategy; Professor LEE Seung-joo at Chung-ang University; KICS Vice President HONG Een-Kee; Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs HAM Sang Wook (MOFA); Deputy Director-General for International Organizations Bureau PARK Jang ho (MOFA); Deputy Director-General for International Security Division KIM Su-eun (MOFA); Associate Professor NAM Seung Hyun (IFANS); Assistant Professor SONG Tae Eun (IFANS); and Researcher LEE Hyunju (IFANS).
