The 6th IFANS-PSAIDS Workshop Upload Date 2022-10-06 Hits 907
On October 6, 2022, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) and the Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies (PSAIDS) held the 6th IFANS-PSAIDS Workshop.  
 


 
The IFANS and PSAIDS signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2011 to facilitate academic exchange and cooperation. Since the 1st IFANS-PSAIDS Workshop was held in Riyadh on October 16 and 17, 2012, the two institutes have regularized their academic interactions by jointly holding workshops. The PSAIDS delegation met with KNDA Chancellor HONG Hyun ik, and discussed practical measures to deepen the two institutes’ cooperation. Participants of the workshop had in-depth discussions on various detailed agendas - how to advance cooperation between the ROK and Saudi Arabia in the coming years, the U.S.-China competition reshaping the global political landscape and its implications for the Middle East, the Iranian nuclear crisis and analysis of the North Korean nuclear problems, and Saudi Arabia’s policy direction in steering state affairs and Saudi’s green initiative.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962, the ROK and Saudi Arabia have successfully consolidated their relations over the last six decades, and IFANS and PSAIDS experts concurred that the two countries need to work together to explore constructive ways to promote comprehensive cooperation going beyond economic cooperation. The two sides also pinned hopes on continued commitments to facilitating academic exchange and cooperation between the two institutes through regularized workshops, and reaffirmed that the 7th IFANS-PSAIDS Workshop will be held in Saudi Arabia next year.
