Diplomatic Oral History Collection: The Inter-Korean Basic Agreement and the Joint Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula Upload Date 2022-11-18 Hits 882
On November 18, 2022, Center for Diplomatic History Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited experts for the fifth session of its Korean Diplomatic Oral History Project.
 
 
Former National Assembly Member Lee Dong-bok and former South Korean Minister of Unification Lim Dong-won visited the Center to share their personal recollections and experiences.
 
 

Participants discussed the negotiation process that led to the Inter-Korean Basic Agreement and the Joint Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the process of high-level inter-Korean meetings and preliminary talks, and shared some viable ideas for a reunification of the two Koreas.

The list of participants included: Former National Assembly Member Lee Dong-bok; Former South Korean Minister of Unification Lim Dong-won; Professor SHIN Jong Dae at the Graduate School of North Korean Studies; Professor LEE Dong-Ryul at Dongduk Women’s University; Professor LEE Jungchul at Seoul National University; Professor CHUN Chaesung at Seoul National University; Associate Professor KIM Han-kwon (IFANS); Research Professor LEE Sang-sook (IFANS); and Researchers CHUNG Jonghyuk and LEE Min Jin (IFANS).
