Readout of IFANS Delegation’s Visits to Vietnam and India Upload Date 2022-11-25 Hits 873
From November 20 to 25, 2022, the Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) visited Hanoi and Delhi for academic interactions and meetings with Vietnamese and Indian think tanks. 
 
 

In Vietnam, the IFANS delegation, the Embassy of Vietnam in the ROK, and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA) jointly held an academic conference on November 21 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of ROK-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The IFANS delegation, led by KNDA Chancellor HONG Hyun Ik and Professor CHOE Wongi, visited the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) for a roundtable on the topic of bilateral relations, an assessment of the Indo-Pacific’s strategic environment, and future directions for ROK-Vietnam strategic cooperation.
 



In India, the IFANS delegation visited the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF), and the India Foundation, a policy research institute under the Bharatiya Janata Party to discuss the Indo-Pacific’s strategic environment, directions for ROK-India strategic cooperation, and ways to advance ROK-India cooperation in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in the year of 2023. KNDA delegation also visited the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) for a meeting with SSIFS Dean Shri Sanjiv Ranjan to share perspectives on the detailed ways to facilitate cooperation between the two institutes.

 
 

On November 25, the IFANS delegation attended a dinner meeting hosted by the ROK embassy in India and had in-depth discussions with Senior Fellow Raja C. Mohan at Asia Society Policy Institute in Delhi and Associate Professor Happymon Jacob at Jawaharlal Nehru University on India’s strategic perception of the Indo-Pacific, India’s recent foreign policy, and future directions for ROK-India strategic cooperation.
