Seminar on Japan’s Plans to Release Fukushima’s Wastewater Upload Date 2023-05-04 Hits 574

On May 4, 2023, Center for Japanese Studies hosted a seminar on the topic of “Japan’s Plans to Release Fukushima’s Wastewater: Safety Review and Korea’s Response.” The meeting was arranged to view the issue of Fukushima wastewater from scientific standpoints and discuss the latest developments in the international community’s response to the issue, and explore how Korea could respond to Japan’s decision in a way that aligns with international standards.
 

 
President BAEK Won-Pil of Korean Nuclear Society, Assistant Professor KIM Yeong-Ho at Pukyong University, Senior Editorial Writer HWANG Sung-Kee of Seoul Shinmun Daily, Professor CHEONG Jae Hak at Kyunghee University, and Associate Professor LIM Eunjung at Kongju University gave their presentations, and participants engaged in-depth discussions to build on the presenters’ ideas.
 
From the KNDA’s side, Chancellor PARK Cheol Hee and many IFANS experts including Professor JO Yanghyeon, Counsel KIM Won Jin to the Center for Japanese Studies, Professor KIM Dok-ju, Director-General KIM Jang Hyun, Professor JUN Bong-Geun, Associate Professor NAM Seung hyun, Assistant Professor PYO Nari, and Research Professor YOON Sukjung participated to share their viewpoints.
