15th Japan-East Asia Expert Forum Upload Date 2023-05-17 Hits 651
On May 17, 2023, the Center for Japanese Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held the 15th Japan-East Asia Expert Forum on the topic of “The U.S.-Japan Alliance and the ROK-U.S. Alliance: What are their Implications for the Current Regional Strategic Landscape?” The forum was arranged to examine the current status of the U.S.-Japan alliance and the ROK-U.S. alliance and discuss their implications for Northeast Asia’s political landscape and Korea-Japan relations.
 
 
Professor JO Yanghyeon, Head of the Center for Japanese Studies, mediated the forum, and H.E. SUGIYAMA Shinsuke, former Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, made a presentation. H.E. CHO Tae Young, former ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Indonesia, and Senior Researcher SONG Whasup in the Global Strategy Division of the Center for Security and Strategy at the Korea Institute for Defense Analyses (KIDA) had a panel discussion followed by open discussions with the participants.

 
 

The list of participants includes: Director-General and Professor KIM Dok-ju of the Department of European and Russian Studies (IFANS/KNDA); Director-General KIM Jang Hyun of the Department of Asian and Pacific Studies (IFANS/KNDA); Professor KIM Hyun-Chul, Dean of Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University, and other eminent outside scholars.
