Center for Japanese Studies at 2021 Jeju Forum Upload Date 2021-06-25 Hits 1830
On June 25, 2021, Center for Japanese Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) participated in the 2021 Jeju Forum and held a session on the topic of “Reconstructing Korea-Japan Relations: From the Perspective of Building Sustainable Peace in East Asia.”

 

 
The session, moderated by Counsel Kim Jae-shin of Center for Japanese Studies, was arranged to explore ways to reconstruct the relationship between Korea and Japan that has been on a downward spiral due to historical issues, from the perspective of building sustainable peace in East Asia. In-depth discussions focused on how East Asia’s political landscape has altered in the wake of President Biden’s inauguration; the Korean peninsula peace process, the ROK-U.S. alliance and the U.S.-Japan alliance; and the need to reconstruct Seoul-Tokyo relations in the post-Covid19 era. 

 


The list of participants includes: Counsel Kim Jae-shin of Center for Japanese Studies (moderator); Professor NAN Ki Jeong of Seoul National University (speaker); Professor Tadashi KIMIYA of the University of Tokyo (speaker); KNDA Professor JO Yanghyeon (discussant); Professor HIRAIWA Shunji of Nanzan University (discussant); and Professor SHIN Jungwha of Dongseo University.
