Seminar on “Democratic Backsliding and Political Changes in Latin America” Upload Date 2021-08-12 Hits 1835
 

On August 12, 2021, Dept. of American Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited outside experts to hold a seminar on the topic of “Democratic Backsliding and Political Changes in Latin America.”

Participants of the meeting discussed a broad array of issues including: the economic situation in Latin America and the outlook for the region’s economy in the second half of 2021; the political and economic situation in Cuba and Venezuela; Venezuela’s perspective on democracy and how the country’s discourse on democracy has changed over the years; procedural democracy in Peru and Columbia; and the outcome of the presidential election in Peru.  

The list of participants includes: Visiting Professor KANG Jung Won of Sungkyunkwan University; Professor KIM Ki-Hyun of Sunmoon University; Visiting Professor Kim Yoo Kyung of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies; Professor SEO Ji Hyun of Pukyung National University; Dr. OH Sung Ju of POSCO Research Institute; Research Professor SON Hye Hyun (IFANS); and Researchers KIM Young Wuk and Ahn Surin (IFANS).
