In the afternoon of March 5, 2024, Chancellor PARK Cheol Hee of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited Dr. S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India upon his visit to Korea, and hosted a public address by Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar under the theme of “Broadening Horizons: India-ROK Partnership in the Indo-Pacific.”
During the public address, with over 120 attendees including officials from relevant agencies, diplomatic trainees at the KNDA, university students, and the general public, Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized that the cooperation between South Korea and India, which have established a “Special Strategic Partnership,” has expanded into various domains over time, bringing positive benefits to both countries. He also assessed that amidst the increasing uncertainty and volatility in the current international landscape in the Indo-Pacific region, the importance of the ROK-India partnership is becoming more prominent.
Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar's public address at the KNDA presented an invaluable opportunity to gain a thorough understanding into India's strategic outlook toward South Korea, a core partner in its Indo-Pacific strategy. The address also offered insights into India's expectations and stance on specific fronts, shedding light on approaches for expanding cooperation between the two countries in the future. It served as a significant platform for exploring policy implications aimed at bolstering future collaboration between the ROK and India.
