On March 23, 2021, Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited experts for a roundtable on the topic of on “Prospects for the Biden Administration’s Approaches toward ASEAN.” The meeting was arranged to look back on the Trump administration’s policy toward ASEAN, forecast the Biden administration’s ASEAN strategy and explore ways to create a synergy between the Korean government’s New Southern Policy (NSP) and new U.S. visions for the Indo-Pacific.
The list of participants includes:
IFANS President OH Youngju; Professor CHOE Wongi, Head of Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies; Professor KIM Hyun-wook, Director-General of Dept. of American Studies; Dean of Education and Training HAN Sung-ho; Research Professor CHO Won Deuk; Researchers LEE Ji su and LEE Sang Hoon; and outside experts including Former Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, Ambassador KIM Yong Sun; Former Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, Ambassador CHUNG Hae moon; Dr. KIM Ye-kyung from the National Assembly Legislative Research Office; Mr. LEE Dong-ki, Deputy Director-General of the Presidential Committee on New Southern Policy; Professor LEE Sook Yeon of Korea National Defense University; Dr. LEE Jaehyon of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies; Professor CHUNG Kuyoun of Kangwon National University; Dr. CHOI In Ah from the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy; and Director PYO Jung Hwa from the ASEAN Cooperation Division (MOFA).
