International Law 2nd Follow-up Meeting on the Independent Panel on the ROK’s Diplomacy toward the UN Upload Date 2021-11-11 Hits 890

On November 11, 2021, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held the second follow-up meeting on the independent panel on the Republic of Korea’s diplomacy toward the UN.
 

 

At the meeting, participants shared an overview of global political, strategic changes reshaping the diplomatic landscape over the past years since ‘Korean Diplomacy toward the United Nations: Visions and Future Strategies’ was published in 2018, and discussed ways to steer Korean diplomacy toward the UN in the coming years. The participants also reviewed the implementation progress from the independent panel report based on the first follow-up meeting held in September 2021, and concurred to discuss Korean diplomacy’s critical tasks ahead in the changing diplomatic landscape at the next meeting. 
 
The list of participants includes: President KIM Eun Mee of Ewha Womans University; Professor OH Joon at Kyung Hee University, former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations; CHOI Seok-young, former Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the UN at Geneva; Deputy Director-General PARK Jang Ho of International Organizations Bureau (MOFA); IFANS President OH Youngju; Professor PARK Yong min (KNDA); Associate Professor Nam Seung hyun, Head of Center for International Law (IFANS); Assistant Professor SONG Jisun (IFANS); and Researcher LEE Hyunju.
