On August 14, 2025, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) hosted the second IFANS Economic and Trade Policy Forum under the theme “The U.S.-China Tariff War and Strategic Mineral Export Controls.”
Amid the prolonged U.S.-China Tariff war, the forum focused on China's comprehensive review of its strategic mineral control regime - including rare earth export licensing - for the first time in 15 years since 2010. Participants examined the evolving export control systems of China and the U.S. and discussed their implications for South Korean businesses and government policy.
