Economy and Trade 2nd IFANS Trade Policy Forum Upload Date 2021-04-13 Hits 1822
On April 13, 2021, the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) – Dept. of Economy, Trade and Development Studies/Dept. of Asian and Pacific Studies, held the 2nd IFANS Trade Policy Forum. 
 
The IFANS arranged the Forum in a hybrid online/offline format under the topic of “Trade and Environment: Geopolitics of Climate Change.”  


 


The Forum was held to explore Korean diplomacy’s direction and future challenges by analyzing trends in climate change discussions in trade in the Biden era, which has emerged as a critical agenda in multilateral diplomacy and drawing their geopolitical implications. Participants had in-depth discussions on the mutual impact of climate change and international trade, trade policies formulated to respond to climate change, the status of related discussions in the multilateral system, and the trend and position of major countries such as the U.S., China, the EU countries, Japan, and Russia.
 

 
The list of participants includes: Professor KANG Joon-ha of Hongik University; Minister of Economy KIM Min-Chul at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Japan; Minister-Counselor KIM Jin-dong at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Russia; Professor PARK Duk-young of Yonsei University; Director PARK Jeong-hyun of International Law at the Ministry of Justice; Director-General LEE Miyon for Bilateral Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea; and IFANS experts including IFANS President OH Youngju; Director-General KIM Young-moo of Dept. of Asian and Pacific Studies; Director-General KIM Yang-hee of Dept. of Economy, Trade and Development Studies; Professors KANG Seongjou, SHIM Sangmin, and LEE Hyo Young.
