Roundtable on the Situation in Afghanistan

On August 11, 2021, Department of African and Middle Eastern Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy invited outside experts to hold a roundtable on the current situation in Afghanistan.
Participants gathered online to discuss U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, how neighboring countries as well as key stakeholder countries reacted to the takeover, and how the crisis unfolding in Afghanistan will affect Korea’s policy toward the country in the years ahead.
The list of participants includes: LEE Kyung-chul, Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; LEE Taewoo, Deputy Director-General of North American Affairs Bureau (MOFA); Minister Counsellor KIM Il Eung of the Korean Embassy in Afghanistan; IFANS President OH Youngju; Director-General IN Nam-sik (IFANS); Director-General CHOI Wooseon (IFANS); Professor JUN Bong-Geun (IFANS); Associate Professor JUN Hae-won (IFANS); Associate Professor KIM Hankwon (IFANS); Assistant Professor PYO Nari (IFANS); Assistant Professor LEE Tae Rim (IFANS); and Researchers LEE Ji Eun and HAN Mihee (IFANS).
