Meeting with Former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Singapore

On July 6, 2022, Center for Chinese Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited former Ambassador AHN Young Jip of the Republic of Korea to Singapore and eminent experts for a meeting on Singapore’s policies toward the U.S. and China.
The meeting was arranged to understand Singapore’s foreign policy amid the U.S.-China competition, and draw implications for South Korea’s policies toward the U.S. and China. Participants shared perspectives through open and wrap-up discussions following Former Ambassador AHN’s presentation on the foundation of Singapore’s diplomatic posture, the background of Singapore’s policies toward the U.S. and China and challenges ahead, and responses to the U.S.-China competition.
The list of outside experts includes: H.E. AHN Young Jip, former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Singapore; Professor LEE Dong-min at Dankook University; South Korean Consul General in Qingdao LEE Soo-john; Professor SHIN Seong-ho at Seoul National University; and Professor HWANG Jaeho at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
The list of IFANS/KNDA experts includes: Chancellor HONG Hyunik of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy; Counsel CHO Young Chun for Center for Chinese Studies; Professor PARK Yong-min; former Minister-Counselor KAM Woon an at the Korean Embassy in the U.S.; Professor CHOE Wongi, Head of Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies; Professor KIM Han-kwon, Head of Center for Chinese Studies; Research Professor CHOI Jinbaek; Research Professor CHO Won Deuk; and Researchers KWON Mina, KIM Jin Young; LEE Sang Hoon, and LEE Ha Young.
