Diplomacy Diplomatic Oral History Collection: The Inter-Korean Basic Agreement and the Joint Declaration of the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula   Upload Date 2022-08-17 Hits 814
On August 17, 2022, Center for Diplomatic History Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) invited experts for the second session of its Korean Diplomatic Oral History Project.
 
 

The center invited former Vice Minister of Unification SONG Han-ho and former Vice Minister of Defense PARK Yong-ok, who steered negotiations toward the Inter-Korean Framework Basic Agreement and the Joint Declaration on the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, to gather retrospective data and readout of inter-Korean relations, neighboring countries’ diplomatic strategies, and policy considerations around the signing of the agreement.

 
 

Participants of the meeting exchanged views on the process of the signing of the agreement, inter-Korean high-level and preliminary talks, and the negotiation process of the Joint Declaration on the Denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
 
 

The list of participants includes: Former Vice Minister of Unification SONG Han-ho; Former Vice Minister of Defense PARK Yong-ok; Professor EOM Gu Ho at Hanyang University; Professor LEE Dong-ryul at Dongduk Women’s University; Professor LEE Jung-chul and Professor CHO Dong-joon at Seoul National University; Professor KIM Jong-hak, Head of Center for Diplomatic History Studies; Research Professor LEE Sang-sook; and Researchers CHUNG Jong-hyuk and LEE Min Jin.
