On May 31, 2023, Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies hosted a session titled “ROK’s Strategy and Role in the Indo-Pacific: Views from the Region” at the 18th Jeju Forum held at the International Convention Center Jeju under the theme of “Working Together for Sustainable Peace and Prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.”
The Session brought together scholars from Korea, Australia, Vietnam and India to exchange views on how major like-minded countries in the region view the ROK’s Indo-Pacific strategy -“The Strategy for a Free, Peaceful and Prosperous Indo-Pacific Region” - and explore the ways in which Korea can best advance its national interests as well as contribute to stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region as a “Global Pivotal State.”
With Professor and Head of Center for ASEAN-Indian Studies CHOE Wongi as moderator, speakers including Senior Fellow Hoang Thi Ha at ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute, Assistant Professor Jojin V. John at Mahatma Gandhi University, Professor John Blaxland at the Australian National University, Professor MA Sang-Yoon at Catholic University of Korea, Director-General Vu Le Thai Hoang of Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), and Assistant Professor CHO Wondeuk at KNDA participated in the session to share their insights.
