The 18th Japan-East Asia Expert Forum Upload Date 2024-04-02 Hits 479

On April 2, 2024, the Center for Japanese Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held the 18th Japan-East Asia Expert Forum on the topic of “Choices Ahead for the Republic of Korea and Japan in Light of the Symmetrical ROK-Japan Relationship amidst U.S.-China competition.” The forum, moderated by Professor JO Yanghyeon, Head of the Center for Japanese Studies of the IFANS, was arranged in a hybrid format for in-person and virtual participation to contemplate the significance of the ROK-Japan relationship in the current context of U.S.-China relations and to explore ways to advance the ROK-Japan relationship down the road by comparing the diplomatic strategies of the ROK and Japan.
 
 

After Professor KIMIYA Tadash at the University of Tokyo made a presentation, Associate Professor KIM Ji Young at Hanyang University, Professor LEE Won-Deog at Kookmin University, and Professor CHOI Wooseon, Director-General of the Department of International Security and Unification Studies of the IFANS, had a panel discussion followed by a free discussion involving all participants.
