Meeting with DSET Research Fellow and Director Jeremy Chih-Chen Chang Upload Date 2024-08-23 Hits 196
On August 22, 2024, the Center for Economic & Technology Security Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held a meeting on the occasion of the visit of Research Fellow and Director Jeremy Chih-Chen Chang of the Semiconductor Industrial Policy Research Unit at the Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET).



The meeting was arranged to foster research exchanges between the Center for Economic & Technology Security Studies and DSET. Participants of the meeting discussed semiconductor export controls and supply chain issues. Specific topics also include: a) expansion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reviews as an economic security strategy; b) current status and issues in the semiconductor industries of major countries including the U.S., China, Japan, and Taiwan; c) potential changes in the U.S.-ROK-Japan security cooperation with Japan set for the new prime minister and the U.S. heading toward the 2024 presidential election.
IFANS experts including Assistant Professor YEON Wonho, Director of the Center for Economic & Technology Security Studies, Research Professor EOM Doyoung of the Center for Economic & Technology Security Studies, and Researchers LEE Su-hyun, SHIN Seokyeong, SHIN Saemee, and SUH Kyuhyeong participate in the meeting.
