Expert Seminar on “2024 International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea Advisory Opinion: Issues and Prospects of Climate Change and International Law” On August 21, 2024, the Center for International Law Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held an expert seminar on the "2024 International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea Advisory Opinion: Issues and Prospects of Climate Change and International Law" in collaboration with the Korean Society of Ocean Law at KNDA's Seminar Room (4th floor). The seminar was organized to review the content of the Advisory Opinion issued by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) on May 21, 2024, and to discuss related major international law and maritime law issues. It began with opening remarks by KNDA Chancellor CHOI Hyung-chan and a keynote address by former President PAIK Jin-hyun of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (currently Senior Adviser at KNDA’s Center for International Law Studies and President of the Korean Society of Ocean Law). The seminar proceeded with a presentation by Professor KIM Hyun-jeong of Yonsei University. In addition, numerous experts and practitioners from related fields including maritime law and policy research institutions, legal and scientific communities, judiciary, ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs' International Legal Affairs Bureau and Climate Change Diplomacy Division, attended the seminar to participate in the discussions.
