On October 24, 2024, the Department of International Security and Unification Studies and the Department of International Trade and Economic Security Studies of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) held the 1st Science and Technology Diplomacy Seminar under the theme of “Risks of International Collaborative Research in the Fields of Science and Technology in the Era of U.S.-China Competition: Issues and Countermeasures.”
The seminar included experts’ presentations and discussions on critical topics including: the concept of research security; the current discourse on research security; the growing presence of scientific and technological research in the field of national security amid the intensifying U.S.-China competition and associated risks; and the current status of Korea’s efforts to institutionalize relevant measures to address the research security issues and tasks ahead.
