1. The 2024 LDP Presidential Election
On October 1, Shigeru Ishiba, President of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) was officially elected as the 102nd Prime Minister. Prime Minister Ishiba aims to pursue a policy direction distinct from the "identity politics" or "post-postwar system theory" established since the second Shinzo Abe administration. Hence, the launch of the Ishiba Cabinet marks the beginning of a full-fledged "post-Abe era," signaling a shift in Japan's political landscape.
